We will start our day early in the morning with pick-up from your hotel in Sofia. With private transportation, we will travel south toward Sandanski, a picturesque spa town known for its healing mineral springs, mild climate, and history as the birthplace of the Thracian hero Spartacus. Upon arrival, we will take a guided walk through the charming town center, passing the Episcopal Basilica and Archaeological Park, the lively pedestrian street, and the beautiful city park with its mineral fountains.

From Sandanski, we will continue to the mystical area of Rupite, famous as the home of the Bulgarian prophetess Baba Vanga. Here, we will visit Vanga’s House and the church she built, “St. Petka of Bulgaria.” Surrounded by the dramatic volcanic landscape of the extinct Kozhuh Mountain, Rupite is considered by many to be a place of powerful energy. Our guide will share stories about Baba Vanga’s life and her lasting influence on Bulgarian culture.

Next, we will head to Melnik, the smallest town in Bulgaria, renowned for its traditional wine-making and the unique Melnik Pyramids. We will stroll through its cobblestone streets, admire the Revival-era houses, and visit the Kordopulova House—a beautifully preserved merchant’s home with an impressive wine cellar. Here, we will enjoy a guided tasting of four wines, each accompanied by commentary about its characteristics and vinification process. The tasting will be paired with cheese, yellow cheese, and traditional dried meats, offering a complete sensory experience.

After the wine tasting, we will have free time in Melnik to shop for souvenirs, browse local artisan products, and enjoy lunch at a traditional restaurant. Our guide will be happy to recommend the best places to eat and local specialties to try.

Our journey will then take us to the nearby Rozhen Monastery, one of Bulgaria’s best-preserved medieval monasteries. Nestled in the Pirin Mountains, the monastery offers a peaceful atmosphere and spectacular views over the surrounding sand formations.

In the late afternoon, we will board our vehicle and return to Sofia, with drop-off at your hotel.
