Tbilisi – Telavi – Sighnaghi – Mtskheta – Gudauri – Kutaisi – Mestia – Ushguli

Welcome to Georgia. Upon our arrival in the Georgian capital, Tbilisi, we will be greeted by our driver and transferred to the hotel for check-in. After a short rest, we will meet our guide and begin our tour of one of the most colorful cities in the Caucasus.
We will start with the Metekhi Church – a temple built on a cliff above the Kura River, linked to the legends of the city’s founder, Vakhtang Gorgasali. Next to it stands his monument, a symbol of Tbilisi and the strength of the Georgian state. We will then continue to the Narikala Fortress – a medieval citadel offering an impressive panoramic view of the entire city. Here we will feel how the history of Tbilisi has unfolded over the centuries – from ancient times to the present day.
We will descend on foot to the district of the sulfur baths – famous for their natural hot springs, which, according to legend, were the reason for the city’s foundation. We will pass by the only mosque in Tbilisi, a testament to the multicultural spirit and tolerance of the Georgian capital. Afterward, we will immerse ourselves in the charming streets of the Sharden district – filled with cozy cafés, wine bars, restaurants, and souvenir shops. Its atmosphere blends old-world architecture with a modern vibe and is always lively. We will also visit the Sioni Cathedral – one of the most important Christian temples in Georgia, guardian of the cross of Saint Nino, who brought Christianity to the country, as well as the Anchiskhati Basilica – the oldest surviving church in Tbilisi (6th century), carrying the spirit of early Christianity.
We will see the clock tower of the Rezo Gabriadze Theatre – a whimsical architectural landmark resembling a fairytale tower and one of the most photographed spots in the city. From there, we will cross the Bridge of Peace – a modern glass and steel structure, a symbol of Tbilisi’s contemporary face, which connects the Old Town with Rike Park – a green area for leisure and walks.
In the evening, we will enjoy a festive dinner in Tbilisi with a folklore program, during which we will taste traditional Georgian specialties and experience authentic music and dance.
Free time. Overnight in Tbilisi.

Breakfast. Today our day will begin with exploring the eastern part of Georgia – a region famous for its millennia-old traditions in winemaking and viticulture. This is the heart of Georgia’s wine culture, where the unique method of producing wine in clay vessels called qvevri has been preserved.
We will visit the Kbilashvili family, who have been crafting qvevri – amphora-like clay vessels – for decades. Even today, these vessels are used to produce traditional Georgian wine. We will observe the process of their creation and taste authentic wine made using this ancient method, which has been inscribed on UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage list.
Our next stop will be a boutique family-owned dairy and wine cellar, where we will immerse ourselves in the world of Georgian cheeses. We will taste five varieties of locally produced cheese and learn more about how they are made. Here our hosts will welcome us with a delicious traditional lunch, enhancing the authentic experience.
We will then continue our journey with a stroll through the charming streets of Old Telavi – the capital of the Kakheti region. We will pause for a photo stop at the monument of King Erekle II, one of Georgia’s most important rulers, who played a key role in the country’s history during the 18th century. We will also see the majestic 800-year-old plane tree – one of Telavi’s natural wonders and among the oldest trees in the Caucasus.
Our tour will then take us to Tsinandali – the former residence of the Georgian noble family Chavchavadze. Here we will discover a beautiful English-style park, a house-museum, and a wine cellar that once belonged to Prince Alexander Chavchavadze – a prominent statesman, public figure, and poet of the 19th century, also known as the “father of Georgian Romanticism.” The place carries a special atmosphere of culture, history, and art. Afterward, we will head to our hotel in Telavi.
Free time. Overnight in Telavi.

Breakfast. Today our day will begin with continuing our journey through the beautiful region of Kakheti. We will head to Sighnaghi – known as the “City of Love” and once a Royal Town. Perched on hills at the foot of the Greater Caucasus Mountains, Sighnaghi is one of the most picturesque places in Georgia. The town was once an important crossroads on the Great Silk Road and today is famous for its well-preserved architecture and romantic atmosphere.
We will stroll along the magnificent defensive walls with 23 towers that encircle the town and preserve the spirit of the past. From here, we will enjoy an impressive panoramic view of the fertile Alazani Valley – the heart of Georgian winemaking – as well as the majestic peaks of the Greater Caucasus rising on the horizon. An interesting fact is that the defensive walls of Sighnaghi are the second longest in Asia, after the Great Wall of China.
Next, we will visit a local family-owned winery, where our hosts will greet us in the traditional Georgian way. We will enjoy a delicious homemade lunch, paired with a tasting of traditional wines produced by the ancient qvevri method. Here we will experience true Georgian hospitality and immerse ourselves in the authentic Kakhetian atmosphere.
In the afternoon, we will return to Tbilisi and check into our hotel.
Free time. Overnight in Tbilisi.

Breakfast. Today our day will begin with an exciting journey to Northern Georgia. Our first stop will be at the Jvari Monastery – an exceptional early medieval architectural masterpiece, perched on a scenic hill above the confluence of the Aragvi and Mtkvari rivers. The monastery, built in the 6th century, is a UNESCO World Heritage site. From here, we will enjoy incredible views of the ancient capital Mtskheta and the surrounding mountains.
We will continue to Mtskheta – one of the oldest cities in Georgia and the spiritual heart of the country. Founded as early as the 3rd century BC, the city served as the capital of the eastern Georgian kingdom of Iberia and still preserves its majestic atmosphere. We will visit Svetitskhoveli Cathedral – the main cathedral of Mtskheta and one of the holiest places in Georgia. According to tradition, the cathedral houses the robe of Christ, making it a pilgrimage site for believers from around the world.
Next, our route will pass through the picturesque Jvari Pass, rising to 2,379 meters above sea level. We will make a short stop at the “Friendship of Nations” monument – an impressive Soviet architectural complex built in 1983, offering spectacular views of the deep gorges of the Caucasus Mountains.
In Kazbegi (today known as Stepantsminda), we will switch to an off-road vehicle to reach the famous Gergeti Trinity Church, perched at 2,170 meters above sea level. The 14th-century church is one of Georgia’s most recognizable symbols. From here, we will enjoy an unforgettable view of the majestic Mount Kazbek (5,047 m) – one of the highest and most beautiful peaks in the Caucasus.
An interesting fact is that Mount Kazbek is linked to ancient Greek mythology – it is said that Zeus chained Prometheus here as punishment for giving fire to humanity. This legend adds a mystical and majestic aura to the mountain. Kazbek is also one of the most popular peaks for climbers and mountain adventure enthusiasts, attracting thousands of tourists from around the world every year.
In the evening, we will arrive in Gudauri – a famous high-altitude resort – and check into our hotel.
Free time. Overnight in Gudauri.

Breakfast. Today our day will begin with departure from Kazbegi toward Kutaisi. Along the way, we will stop at the Ananuri architectural complex – an impressive fortress from the 16th–17th centuries, which served as the residence of the rulers of the Argveti region. The complex includes churches, defensive towers, and walls, and offers a picturesque panorama of the turquoise waters of the Jinvali Reservoir.
After the visit, we will head to a traditional Georgian family winery, where we will experience the true warmth of local hospitality. We will be welcomed with a homemade lunch featuring typical Georgian specialties, accompanied by a tasting of homemade wine produced in ancient clay vessels called “qvevri.” This will be an unforgettable culinary and cultural experience, allowing us to connect with the rich traditions of the Georgian table.
Interestingly, the tradition of winemaking in Georgia spans more than 8,000 years, making the country one of the oldest wine regions in the world. It is here that the fermentation technique in qvevri – large clay vessels buried in the ground – was developed, a method recognized as part of UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage. This explains why Georgian wine is inseparably linked to the country’s cultural and spiritual identity.
After the delicious lunch and tasting, we will continue our journey to Kutaisi – the second-largest city in Georgia, which served as the capital of the ancient Colchian kingdom. In the evening, we will arrive and check into our hotel.
Free time. Overnight in Kutaisi.

Breakfast. Today our day will begin with a visit to Prometheus Cave, one of the most spectacular natural wonders of Georgia. Here, we will immerse ourselves in a magical underground world of stalactites, stalagmites, underground rivers, and lakes, shaped over millions of years. The lighting in the cave highlights the whimsical formations and creates a unique atmosphere that will leave us breathless.
Next, we will make a short stop at the magnificent Enguri Dam – the second tallest arched concrete dam in the world (271.5 m). It is not only an impressive engineering feat but also one of the country’s most important cultural and economic landmarks. From here, we will enjoy breathtaking views of the lake and surrounding mountains.
Continuing our journey through the scenic Enguri River gorge, we will enter the mysterious region of Svaneti – a land of rugged nature, indomitable spirit, and unique culture. The Svans are one of the oldest ethnic groups in the Caucasus, renowned for their bravery, strong traditions, and distinctive way of life.
The Svaneti region is often called the “Land of a Thousand Towers” – here we will discover medieval stone defensive towers proudly standing over valleys and villages. Built mainly between the 10th and 14th centuries, these towers served both defensive and practical purposes. In the town of Mestia, the center of Svaneti, dozens of authentic stone houses with towers, which are part of the UNESCO World Heritage, are still preserved. We will have the opportunity to enter a real Svan house (“machubi”) and tower (“koshki”) and experience the daily life of this proud mountain people.
Interestingly, due to its isolation, Svaneti has preserved unique traditions, an ancient Georgian language, and customs that are not found elsewhere in the country. Even today, many Svans observe ancient rituals connected to nature and Christianity, giving the region a special spiritual significance.
In the evening, we will arrive in Mestia and check into our hotel.
Free time. Overnight in Mestia.

Breakfast. Today our day will begin with a journey to Ushguli – the highest continuously inhabited village in Europe (2,200 m above sea level). This is a true treasure of Svaneti and is part of the UNESCO World Heritage List due to its unique architecture and historical significance. About 70 families, approximately 200 people, live in the village, preserving the ancient traditions of the Svans. The atmosphere in Ushguli feels like a journey back in time – narrow cobbled streets, stone towers, and authentic houses seem frozen in the Middle Ages.
We will stroll through the old streets of the village and visit the Lamaria church complex, dating from the 12th century. The church is famous for its extremely valuable frescoes depicting biblical scenes, which have preserved their colors over the centuries. Locals believe that the legendary Georgian queen Tamar, considered a symbol of the strength and grandeur of medieval Georgia, is buried here.
From Ushguli, we will also enjoy a majestic panorama of Mount Shkhara – the highest peak in Georgia (5,193 m), part of the main Caucasus range. Its snow-covered slopes and the surrounding wild nature make it one of the most beautiful places in the country, a favorite for photographers and travelers alike.
On the way back to Mestia, we will stop at the Kheshkili swings, one of the most popular spots for panoramic views in the region. Here, we will enjoy incredible vistas of the Svaneti mountain ranges and valleys – a perfect place for a short break and unforgettable photos.
In the evening, we will return to Mestia and check in again at the hotel.
Free time. Overnight in Mestia.

Breakfast. Today our day will begin with checking out from our rooms and visiting the Ethnographic Museum in Mestia – a true treasure of Svaneti’s culture and history. In the museum, we will discover a rich collection of valuable exhibits: ancient icons, exquisite jewelry, antique weapons, household items, and unique artifacts that reveal the way of life of the Svans over the centuries. This is one of the most important cultural centers in the region and will give us a chance to peek into the world of this proud and distinctive community.
After we bid farewell to Svaneti, we will set off for the beautiful Samegrelo region. Along the way, we will pass through picturesque villages with charming courtyards, typical only for this part of Georgia. This area is known for its fertile lands, hospitable people, and vibrant culture, and its atmosphere will bring us closer to authentic Georgian life.
Our next stop will be the famous Martvili Canyon – one of Georgia’s most remarkable natural creations. Here, we will embark on a short and thrilling boat ride to a beautiful waterfall cascade, surrounded by steep rock walls. Then we will walk along the opposite side of the canyon, where special bridges and panoramic platforms will allow us to observe how the river changes its color at every bend – from emerald green to crystal blue. This is one of the most photogenic places in Georgia, perfect for photos and selfies.
In the evening, we will arrive in Kutaisi – the second-largest city in the country, known for its ancient history and cultural significance. We will check in at the hotel.
Free time. Overnight in Kutaisi.

Today our day will begin with checking out from our rooms and exploring Kutaisi – the capital of the Imereti region and one of the oldest cities in Georgia, whose roots trace back to the ancient Kingdom of Colchis. The city combines a historic atmosphere with modern dynamics, and every street preserves traces of its rich history.
We will visit the majestic Bagrati Cathedral – an 11th-century cultural heritage monument, built on a hill with panoramic views of the entire city. Although partially destroyed over the centuries, the cathedral has been restored and today symbolizes the strength and spirituality of the Georgian people.
Next, we will stroll through the old and new streets in the city center. We will stop at the cool City Park, where among the shadows of the trees we will discover numerous sculptures. We will see the impressive Colchis Fountain, adorned with golden figures inspired by the ancient mythology of the Argonauts. We will pass by the Drama Theater and finally immerse ourselves in the lively atmosphere of the historic Green Bazaar, where locals offer dried and fresh fruits, nuts, spices, homemade jams, and many other traditional products. This is a perfect place to experience the true spirit of the city.

We will enjoy lunch at a local family restaurant, where we will have the opportunity to taste the finest examples of Georgian cuisine – dishes prepared according to traditional recipes and served with the renowned Georgian hospitality.
Our next stop will be the impressive cave city of Uplistsikhe – one of the oldest settlements in Georgia, dating back to the Hellenistic period.
